About
Howdy! My name is Joshua Jamison, and I’m going to try out this blogging thing for the first time, so please be patient with me as I figure things out. I’m 27 years old, I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I’m still trying to get enough money to finish my bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah.
I am currently Atheist, and I’m pretty sure that my mind won’t be changed anytime soon, since I arrived at this conclusion through intense belief and study in many other religions. I spent years worshipping in two flavors of Christianity, as a Buddhist, and a Taoist. I spent months worshipping as a Hindu, and as a devotee of Shinto. And there was that one week where I decided that I was Jesus Christ reborn, and I went down to the Mormon Temple, in white robes and with my normal long hair and beard, and spoke to people there until they arrested me. That was a good week.
Anyway, the upshot of all this is that I have gained a familiarity not only with the tenets of many religions, but also with the process of belief in general. I have also intensely studied most ”Holy” books, even those of religions I never professed to follow. So, if and when anyone else posts or comments on this blog–DO NOT do the stupid thing and ask me if I’ve actually read your particular favorite Holy Book! Trust me, I have read it intensely, and have discarded it for one reason or another. I love discussing religion, theology, politics, current events, and such, and I reserve the right to change my mind about any of these things at any time…But if highly motivated, fervent, intelligent higher-ups in the religions I have been in couldn’t talk me out of leaving, you probably can’t bring me back into the fold.
Politically, I am sort of a mixed bag. I have opinions on issues that range from rabidly Libertarian to Severely Conservative, and everything in between. Mostly, I try to vote for the least corrupt and stupid candidates, regardless of party. This naturally means that I have not voted Republican in quite a while. When people seize upon this fact to label me a Liberal, I don’t exactly see it as an insult, but I will ask “Do you mean a Hillary Clinton quasi-Liberal or an actual Liberal?” As far as I can tell, both major parties are not, as a whole, concerned with anything but their own success and power, and often I will vote Green Party or Libertarian in protest. Those who say I am thereby wasting my vote can take said vote and shove it up their ass, and I will freely give it to them for this express purpose.
Well, anyway, enough about me. If something I say in a post here interests, disgusts, intrigues, or outrages you enough, please comment! Questions, concerns, answers, and/or verbal abuse are welcome as long as you present evidence and logical argument to back it up. Expect your argument to be attacked and deconstructed if you seek to attack and deconstruct mineā¦I do not take this personally, and if you post, neither should you! I enjoy debate and the give and take of ideas, and free exchange of opinion, but these things ARE NOT the same!!! Post an opinion and say it as such, or give me a spirited argument about the cases I have presented here, but understand these are not the same thing, and I will treat them very differently.
Oh, and I do have a myspace account, if anyone cares or wants to see me doing strange things in pictures. www.myspace.com/91028033
